How to Tame Your Beard [Best Beard Taming Products]

Big beards. Short beard. Long beards. Bushy beards. Beards come in all shapes and sizes. But there's one type of beard nobody wants – an untamed beard. More than just a little wild, these beards are out-of-control, with hair growing scraggly, endless split ends, and just an all-around mess.

It doesn't have to be this way. Beardcraft, as we call it, can be extremely simple. Spending just a few minutes a day can transform your beard, vastly improving your appearance and giving you a beard that perfectly frames your face.

How? Well, that's where our Guide To Taming A Beard comes in. It's all part of the recent launch of our new Beard Tamer – a product specifically designed to work a little magic on those most unruly of beards.

How to Tame Your Beard

Decide on Your Beard

What kind of beard do you want? That's the biggest question. The answer will influence all your future decisions. It's okay to want a long beard – but you've got to realize that it comes with a bit more maintenance. Don't be above looking at pictures of guys online – search for beards of different styles and look at what works for face shapes similar to yours.

Give It a Thorough Wash

One of the biggest issues with unruly beards is that they're dry or, worse, dirty. Giving the beard a thorough wash can transform most beards – especially if paired with a good trim. Why do beards get dry? Well, that's often down to either a lack of beard oil or using normal shampoo.

You've got to use a specialized shampoo and conditioner – think our Beard Wash and Restore – that won't strip out the essential oils.

Use a Beard Tamer

Beard Tamers haven't been around very long. They're a new product that promises to tackle stubborn, tangled beards. The answer comes in their specific ingredients. Unlike beard oils that exclusively rely on runny, liquid oils, tamers use a combination of oils, beeswax, and shea butter (or some other ingredient) to soften and untangle the hairs. Combined with a beard brush, you can achieve a much more structured appearance than the previous mess.

Brush. Brush. Brush

You're going to want a boar's hair beard brush. Trust us. Trying to untangle your beard with a plastic comb is a fast way to pain city. Using something like this brush will allow you to gradually work through the tangles and apply any beard products deep into your facial hair. Keep brushing until you've got rid of most of the issues.

Apply Beard Oil

If you're using a beard tamer, you may or may not need a beard oil as well. If your hair is extremely dry and brittle, e.g., you're dealing with a lot of split ends, we recommend applying 3-5 drops of beard oil per day to your beard for a month or so. This will restore your beard's hydration – you can then reduce your application rate.

If you're not using a beard tamer, then a beard oil is a must. We use a combination of five different carrier oils to create an extremely hydrating, nourishing product that locks in your beard's hydration and moisturizes the underlying skin. Say goodbye to beard itch!

The Best Beard Tamer

Okay. You've heard of beard oils and beard balms. But what is a beard tamer? We've covered it a little earlier – it's a combination of a few key ingredients. Beard Sorcery's new Beard Tamer contains:

  • Premium Shea Butter: Deeply hydrates skin and beard without leaving an oily residue, enhancing the natural barrier.
  • 100% Pure White Beeswax: Softens skin, improves elasticity, and provides anti-inflammatory benefits, ensuring excellent beard hold.
  • Pure Jojoba Oil: Rich in vitamins C, B, and E, it balances moisture, prevents hair loss, and promotes a thicker, healthier beard.
  • Virgin Argan Oil: Protects from environmental damage and enhances shine with its high content of fatty acids and vitamin E.
  • Apricot Kernel Oil: Ideal for oily beards, it nourishes and strengthens hair follicles with vitamins E and K without adding weight.
  • Pumpkin Seed Oil: Demonstrates potential to improve hair growth and retention by up to 30%, enhancing thickness and reducing loss.
  • Rosehip Oil: Packed with fatty acids and vitamins, it nourishes and promotes collagen, reducing dark spots and rejuvenating the skin and beard.

Together, this lightweight formula locks down those rogue strands, sculpts your beard, and softens the hair. No more crazy beard days – whether you're facing wild winds, rainy days, or any other problem, your beard will stay sleek and sharp.
