5 Coolest Bearded Jedi in the Star Wars Universe

Aren't Jedi just the coolest? These space wizards, or rather warrior monks, wield lightsabers, study the mystical arts, and have special powers. One part knights, one part spiritual guardians, and another part wizard; no self-respecting Jedi is complete without a beard (sorry, Mace Windu).

Indeed, almost all the main Jedi we come across in the Star Wars Universe sport a beard at one time or another – aliens notwithstanding. But who has the greatest facial fuzz? Who brings balance not only to the universe but also to their lower jaw. Let's find out.

1. Obi-Wan Kenobi

From his early days as a clean-shaven knight to his iconic status as a bearded Jedi Master, Obi-Wan's beard transformation is legendary. His initial, meticulously groomed beard showcases the discipline and rigor of a Jedi in his prime. Fast forward to his hermit days on Tatooine, and we see a more rugged, fuller beard – a testament to his survival instincts and sage wisdom.

But let's get real – Obi-Wan's beard isn't just about facial hair; it's a symbol of his journey, his battles, and his sheer badassery. It's the kind of beard that tells stories of lightsaber duels, daring rescues, and profound mentorship. It's not just facial fuzz; it's a beacon of Jedi awesomeness.

2. Qui-Gon Jinn

Qui-Gon Jinn is a maverick among the Jedi. This long-haired, free-spirited Jedi isn't just memorable for his unconventional beliefs or even for discovering the Chosen One; his facial hair is a statement in its own right.

With a beard that exudes a sense of rugged individualism, Qui-Gon stands out among the mostly fresh-faced Jedi. It mirrors his philosophy – unrestrained, natural, and flowing with the Force. It's as if every strand of his beard whispers tales of his adventures across the galaxy, his defiance of the Council's norms, and his deep connection to the Living Force.

3. Luke Skywalker

For most of our lives, we knew Luke Skywalker as the fresh-faced boy from Tatooine. Thus, when he returned to the Disney Trilogy, we were shocked. Gone was the boy; here was the master. Except, unlike Obi-Wan's flawless, finely-trimmed Jedi beard, Luke was a little wilder and longer.

Adrift and alone, his untamed beard symbolized his turbulent journey and distaste with the Jedi of the past. Only when he returns in the finale of The Last Jedi does he look different. Shorter and noticeably less gray, this is Luke as he should have been. Not a malcontent and misanthrope, but the hero we all know and love.

4. Count Dooku

Count Dooku's beard! It's sharp, sleek, and screams sophistication, mirroring his highborn swagger and refined evil. This isn't just facial hair; it's a statement of his elite status, blending his noble aura with a dash of sinister charm. Dooku's beard isn't just groomed; it's a badge of his aristocratic, menacing elegance, setting him apart as a true blueblood turned dark-side connoisseur.

5. Baylan Skoll

Once a former Jedi, Baylan survived Order 66 by fleeing into the Unknown Regions. There, he veered further and further from the Jedi creed, becoming a "Dark Jedi." His name, "Skoll", comes from the celestial wolf in Norse mythology – and his appearance only confirms the image.

His beard is wild, untamed, and utterly fearless, much like Skoll himself. He is the wolf who devours his enemies through his raw, unbridled spirit.
