The show might be over, but people are still Googling, "Who is the beard guy from Game of Thrones?" While we all eagerly await the next season of House of the Dragon and the release of Winds of Winter (come on, George, surely it's done by now?), we're reviewing the best Game of Thrones beards.
Tell us in the comments below what your favourite GOT beard is. Did the show inspire your beard? Or how accurate was the show in getting the beards from the book?
Can there be any other winner? If people are Googling, "Who is the beard guy from Game of Thrones?" and that's you, it's a pretty clear sign people were impressed.
Iconic for its wild, untamed appearance, Tormund is the quintessential wildling. His long, thick, bushy ginger beard is perfect for the larger-than-life character. It's just a shame the "big woman" didn't appreciate his mane. It's okay, Tormund – here at Beard Sorcery, we think it's pure magic.
Few beards are more recognisable than Khal Drogo's – you'd recognise it from its silhouette. With its full length and braided point, it's the ultimate symbol of power and strength. Just be careful – you've got to have a very particular aesthetic to pull this kind of beard off.
"You know nothing, Jon Snow." Well, he does know how to grow a mean beard. Jon's rugged beard was good enough not only to bag Ygritte in the show but also to marry the actress in real life. Capturing both his youthful appearance and rugged personality, it's a simple beard to replicate.
Indeed, as far as "main character" beards go, it's a solid pick. Just beware: if you choose this beard, your younger sister might come out of nowhere to steal your thunder.
When Jaime grew a beard, we all stopped hating him. (Just saying.) It was the moment he fell on hard times and lost the extremely punchable Lannister fresh face that he became one of the show's best and most interesting characters.
Curiously, when he went back to Cersei, his beard got trimmed, though not entirely. A sign that he was reverting back to his former self.
Technically, Ned Stark wasn't a king. However, his beard is the closest to the quintessential lord – albeit with a little northern edge. Medium-length and neatly trimmer, it told us everything we needed to know about this man of honour and duty. Unfortunately, in the end, it was more than a close shave.
As far as Game of Thrones beard styles that are easy to replicate, Jorah's has got to be up there. All you need is a little bit of stubble. Like many of the other characters, it told us so much about his character. He was a former lord who had fallen on hard times – a no-nonsense sellsword who'll get the job done.
Sadly, it wasn't enough beard to woo the lovely Daenarys. Which brings us to…
In the books, Daario has by far the most interesting beard. Dyed blue, bushy, and cut into three prongs, you couldn't miss the Tyroshi captain of the Stormcrows. As with everything in the show, it got significantly tuned down. Here, Daario sports a full, sculpted beard. It's still nice, but nowhere near the magnificence we find described on the page.
